2023 Hidetown Labor Day Festival & Reunion September 1st-4th
Mobeetie is gearing up for the 2023 Hidetown Labor Day Festival and Reunion. A special event you won’t want to miss this year is a hay ride to Hidetown on Sunday afternoon!
Events begin on Friday evening, September 1st, with a Fajita Dinner at 6 p.m. ($15 per plate) and a message from Gatlin Duncan and the Cornerstone Praise and Worship Team.
Saturday morning, September 2nd, will kick off with the Hidetown 5k Run/Walk which starts at the Visitor’s Center at 6:30 a.m. with the Kid’s Fun Run/Ride at 7:30 a.m. At 7:00 a.m. breakfast burritos will be available and the 3rdAnnual Jody Powledge Memorial BBQ Cook Off competitors will fire up their grills. The Steak Cookoff is on this day, too.
The annual parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Visitor’s Center and travel to the Old Mobeetie Jail Museum. Following fun starts at the Old Mobeetie Jail Museum with Food Booths, featuring homemade ice cream, Vendor Fair, Free Bounce Houses for the kiddos, Kids Games, Museum Tours and music off and on throughout the day. TheMobeetie Class Reunion and 100th Anniversary of the old Elementary School Building (now the Visitor’s Center) will be held in New Mobeetie at the School Building. The Quilt Show and Kenneth Wyatt Art Exhibit and Sale will be 12:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. again on Sunday. The Mud Volleyball Tournament will begin at 2:30 p.m. and the evening will close out with the Old Settlers Dance from 9:00 p.m.-1:00 a.m.
Sunday, September 3rd, will feature Church on the museum grounds at 10:30 a.m. and food booths will open. The Vendor Fair, Bounce Houses, Quilt Show and Art Exhibit will begin at 12:00 p.m. The Cornhole Tournament will start at 1:00 p.m. on museum grounds and the Historic Hidetown Wagon Ride is scheduled from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and leaves from the Visitor’s Center. Mud Volley Ball finals are at 1:oo p.m. At 6:30 p.m. join us for a Steak Dinner on the Lawn. The steak dinner is $30 for the steak and sides. For $35, you can share a steak and get an extra set of sides. This year we will also have hotdogs for the kids, with the purchase a steak dinner. We will have live music featuring Nathan McLaughlin and Justin Embree at 7:00 p.m.
Monday September 4th, will be the Old Settler’s BBQ fundraiser by the Mobeetie Volunteer Fire Department, (by donations), preceded by the Quilt and Art Show, Ft. Elliott FFA Food Booth, Vendor Fair, Bounce Houses, Kids Games, Museum Tours and live music until 2:00 p.m.
